There is something a little strange about starting a brand-new blog.

It feels a bit like opening the door to a room you’ve spent forever arranging, fluffing the pillows, moving the lamp three times, straightening the books, and then suddenly realizing people might actually come inside.

So, hello. I’m glad you’re here.

I’m Wynter Rowan, and this little corner of the internet is where I’ll be sharing the things that tend to pile up around me anyway: stories, books, artwork, animals, creative ideas, behind-the-scenes bits, half-finished thoughts, and probably more than a few things involving dogs.

A lot of dogs, actually.

I’ve always been someone who makes things. Writing, drawing, painting, designing, building websites, dreaming up projects, changing my mind, starting over, trying something different, and occasionally wondering why I thought any of it would be simple.

That part probably isn’t going to change.

What is changing is that I finally have one place under my own name where all of those pieces can live together.

What you’ll find here

This blog is not going to be one narrowly defined thing.

Some posts will be about books I’m writing.

Some will be about illustration and how a picture changes while you’re working on it.

Some will be about animals and the stories they inspire.

Some might be about creativity, design, or the odd little things that happen behind the scenes when you’re trying to turn an idea into something real.

And sometimes I may simply share something because I think it’s interesting, funny, pretty, useful, or worth remembering.

That seems like a good enough reason.

Books are becoming a bigger part of the picture

One of the biggest reasons for creating WynterRowan.com is that I’m moving more seriously into writing and publishing books.

My first projects are connected to kindness, children, animals, and the small everyday choices that help children learn how to treat animals gently and thoughtfully.

That work also led to Kind Hands Books, which has become its own little home for those books, printables, caregiver resources, and animal-kindness material.

This site is different.

WynterRowan.com is more personal.

This is where I can talk about what I’m writing, what I’m making, what went wrong, what finally worked, what I’m excited about, and whatever creative side road I happen to wander down next.

There will definitely be art

Before computers could make pictures in seconds, I spent years drawing, painting, designing, and making artwork by hand.

I still love art just as much.

What has changed is how I make it.

These days I use a mix of digital tools and AI-assisted illustration because it lets me work faster, experiment more freely, and keep creating without turning every project into a marathon.

The creative decisions still matter to me.

Color matters.

Composition matters.

Character expressions matter.

Tiny details matter.

And if a dog somehow looks pasted onto the floor instead of actually standing in the room, yes, that matters too.

Probably more than it should.

The animals will wander in whether invited or not

Animals have always been part of my life, so naturally they keep finding their way into the work.

Dogs are especially good at this.

They appear in stories.

They appear in artwork.

They appear under desks.

They appear beside chairs.

They appear whenever food is involved.

They are also excellent at ignoring deadlines.

So if you like animals, you should feel pretty comfortable here.

I want this site to feel like a place, not just a website

One thing I knew from the beginning was that I did not want WynterRowan.com to look like one of those plain author websites with a headshot, three beige boxes, and a button that says “Learn More.”

There is nothing wrong with that.

It just isn’t me.

I wanted paper clips, torn edges, stationery, doodles, paint marks, little postage details, books, pens, paw prints, flowers, and all the things that make a creative space feel lived in.

A little messy.

A little charming.

A little unexpected.

Basically, like a desk where someone is actually making something.

So what comes next?

A lot, I hope.

Books.

Blog posts.

Artwork.

Reader extras.

Behind-the-scenes stories.

Probably a few experiments that work beautifully.

Probably a few that absolutely do not.

And enough little details along the way to keep things interesting.

If you’ve found your way here early, you’re getting in at the very beginning, before the bookshelf is full and before everything is neatly figured out.

I actually kind of like that.

You get to watch it grow.
